TIP Roller XL
HE-VA have one of the largest Rolls ranges on the market and the 5-Section Tip Roller XL meets the demand for wider rolls, with the ability to cultivate and level.
Sizes range from 12.3m to 15.3m, all fitted with NG rings - 12.3m with either 9 spoke 560mm (22") or 10 spoke 620mm (24") and 15.3m with 9 spoke 560mm (22"). New Generation rings (NG) come standard with a 5-year warranty.
The HE-VA Tip Roller XL has a strengthened double frame which allows Shattaboards, Slicerboards or Straw Tines to be fitted on 12.3m and 15.3m working widths.
The machine employs a similar ‘TIP’ folding system to the smaller machines, but the stronger, double frame allows 5 contour following sections.
The optional Shattaboards, Slicerboards and Straw Tines are hydraulically adjustable to allow precise setting on the move or to lift them out of work so that the Tip Roller XL can be used independently for rolling.

Shattaboards & Slicerboards
Shattaboards & Slicerboards cultivate, level and consolidate in front of the rolls transforming the rolls into an all round cultivation tool.
Hydraulic operation enables the levelling board to be retracted when necessary and controls the working angle. The locking device links the springboards together harnessing their combined strength to improve levelling.
The Slicerboard knife edges slice into clods on heavy ground enhancing the tilth created by the board.
• Close coupled - strength and reliability
• Height and angle adjustment
• Adjustable wearing paddles - extend life
• Locking device - enhances leveling ability
Top-Cutter
The Top-Cutter was designed to assist in cover crop destruction, it can be fitted as an option to the 12.3m Tip Roller XL. Mounted ahead of the main cultivation element, the roller is equipped with six double-sided blades which span its full working width.
With downforce generated by the Tip Roller XL, the blades provide a transverse chopping action.
The roller rings on the host machine work at 90 degrees to the knife roller ensuring crop residues are comprehensively dealt with. Blades are arranged in a chevron pattern to evenly load the roller and avoid vibrations being generated when the machine is running at speed
Straw Tines
Two rows of Straw Tines, sprung finger tines that can turn a set of HE-VA Tip rolls into a true multi-purpose machine, capable of helping growers reduce their reliance on chemicals in combating pest and weed problems.
Following initial cultivation passes, the heavy-duty Tip Rollers fitted with Straw Tines can be put to work pre-drilling with the tines providing shallow soil movement to generate a surface tilth. Rows of breaker rings then provide a firming action and a corrugated, weather-proof finish ready for the drill. The aggressive stirring action of tines disturbs and disrupts slug activity, destroying clutches of eggs before they hatch.
As well as creating consolidated stale seedbeds ahead of drilling, Tip Rollers equipped with Straw Tines can also be used following the combine to evenly spread and break up crop residues, prompting more rapid breakdown. At the same time the tines’ action can help to generate a fine surface tilth which, when consolidated by the heavy roller rings, produces ideal conditions to get weed seeds to germinate.
Mounted on a hydraulically activated toolbar directly ahead of the roller rings, the twin rows of 16mm diameter straw harrow tines can be lifted out of work for conventional post-drilling seedbed consolidation work.
Unique SAT System - Special Active Transfer
All rolls have the powerful built-in SAT system to spread the frame weight evenly across the machine width.
Cambridge Rolls without HE-VA automatic weight balancing tend to exert the highest ground pressure on the centre roller section. This roller section carries the weight of the drawbar, wheel frame and hydraulics as well as its own weight, far more than the two wing sections.
With a basic roller set up there is no weight transfer and the uneven weight distribution is great as can be seen above.
Even with a basic sprung weight transfer system the hinges at either end of the centre section prevent weight being spread evenly.
The HE-VA SAT system is spring loaded and as the outside roll sections are attached with centre pivot hinges, weight transferred evenly across the full width of the Cambridge Rolls.
The key to any set of Rolls successfully improving soil consolidation is weight, and getting the weight on to the soil. The Tip-Roller achieves this by featuring five Pivot Points, three centre pivots plus two more where the wings are joined to the main frame. Giving independent floatation on each section; this allows the roller to follow the contours in the most undulating of ground conditions and ensures constant ring to soil contact.
The Tip Rollers folding mechanism has a deep wing link pivot with Teflon coated steel bushing top and bottom to provide strength for cultivation as well as rolling.
The rings are mounted on 60mm axles for strength and longevity. These axles run on 4 bolt bearings protected inside u-profile steel.
The Cambridge Rolls axle on the wing sections of the have a centre bearing as an additional support.

HE-VA's 3 section Cambridge Rolls design supports the side section horizontally in a positive locking cradle reducing noise when travelling.
In the completely folded position the weight of the wings is carried between the tractor and transport wheels improving stability.
HE-VA rolls are available with a choice of ring types. All carefully designed to cope with today’s higher machine weights but retain the time-proven qualities of traditional ring engineering, the range includes new multi-spoke developments created to meet customer demand and changing farming methods.
New generation (NG) rings come standard with a 5-year warranty.
